Giving back to my communities

I’m always looking for ways to give back to my communities – both in my professional life and in my personal life. Below are some examples.

Mentoring At-risk Youth

My proudest service accomplishment was when I first arrived in Seattle. I mentored at-risk youth for several years to help them graduate high school and get into college.

My Work in LGBTQ+ Communities

I have been a LGBTQ+ community leader and organizer. In Seattle, I was part of the Out in Front organization which trained Seattle metropolitan community members in leadership. In Washington, DC, I helped organize Youth Pride events and city-wide Pride events while also running a social discussion group for youth in their 20s.

Pro Bono Consulting for Nonprofits

As a management consultant, I led my market’s pro bono consulting program for a number of years providing free consulting to nonprofits. We supported organizations that focused on the unhoused, provided academic support for at risk kids from K-12, and helped under-served high school students get into AP classes to better their chances in getting into top rated schools.

My Corporate DEI Work

I also led a series of listening sessions for my company’s Seattle market leadership to understand the lived experiences of consultants across the range of gender identities, racial background, socio-economic, and sexual orientations. I also had the honor of organizing and leading our LGBTQ+ employee resource group in its early years.
