You and I have both been there—flirting with a Plan B, just in case.
In fact, I talked about this before. You can read up here on why I think they’re a bad idea.
I get it though. The “What if I fail?” voice is loud. The stability of a paycheck, the predictable 9-to-5 (or 8-to-infinity), the knowing-what-you’re-getting-into-every-day routine—it’s all so comforting when you’re staring down the unknown of running your own business.
And yet.
The thought of walking away from corporate life keeps creeping back in—especially on those weeks when your boss asks for one more thing at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon and it’s your turn for kid pickup.
So, you stay stuck in the status quo. You want the freedom, but you also want the safety net. And your brain? Oh, it loves safety nets. That reptilian part of your mind is practically hoarding them.
I know, because I stayed stuck there for years. The “What if I fail?” voice played on a loop. It kept me questioning, overanalyzing, and convincing myself it wasn’t possible.
Then one day, I realized something: That voice wasn’t keeping me safe. It was keeping me small.
The person you become is bigger than your Plan B
If you’ve been waiting for a sign that you can do this—here it is.
Because get this: The person you are right now can’t fully comprehend the person you’ll be a year from now.
I never saw myself as a natural business creator. I never imagined I’d be this confident selling my services. Or that I’d create things people actually need. Or that I’d have a moment where I look back and think: “Corporate? Yeah, I don’t fit in that box anymore.”
And that’s the real magic of taking the leap.
Your sense of possibility expands. Your skills multiply. Your self-trust skyrockets. And suddenly, the thought of going back to corporate doesn’t just feel unappealing—it feels… impossible.
Like, what job could ever be big enough for me now?
And trust me, you’ll feel that way too.
The fear? Totally normal. But don’t let it be the reason you stay stuck.
Still feeling like you need a Plan B? That’s normal. Your brain is just doing what brains do—keeping you from leaping without a net.
But here’s a question worth sitting with:
What makes you think you won’t succeed?
You’re bringing years of experience, skills, and actual results to your next dream. You just haven’t fully stepped into your possibility yet.
And the best part? You don’t have to figure it out alone.
So, here’s what I want you to do: Email me at pierre at pierrebradette dot com and tell me the one fear that’s keeping you frozen. I’ll tackle it in future newsletters with actual, practical ways to move past it.
Because trust me—you’ve got this. And I’ve got you.
